Wing Kit Shipping Info. (Nov 2016)

November 29, 2016 (Wing Kit Arrives)

I placed the order for the wing kit on September 23, 2016 and it arrived on November 29, 2016.
The kit was shipped using Old Dominion Freight Line.   They did a great job and the crates arrived without a scratch just like when they left Vans headquarters in Oregon.

I did not request or pay for the lift gate service, but the truck did have it.    It was handy, but think with three or four people, the crates could be unloaded without too much trouble.   Vans lists the crate weights as 181 lbs for the one the drivers are offloading in the picture and 220 lbs for the one on the trailer.  I had the neighbors "on call" for when the truck arrived, but as seen in the picture, the Old Dominion drivers did all the work.   I had my small trailer in the street to make the transfer a little easier.

Here's Scott and "new recruit" neighbor Glenn helping with the unpacking.   Glenn is mechanically inclined and a quick thinker.  He has very high potential as a future airplane building associate:)

I was expecting the canopy to be a little larger:) ..This is actually the lens covers for the Nav/Strobe lights for the wings.   It comes as one piece and gets trimmed later to fit each wing tip.

The wing kit needs to be inventoried before construction begins to make sure you have all the pieces.   Better to find something missing now instead of when you're actually putting parts together and have to wait for it to be shipped.
